The game goalunited is an online soccer manager of a new generation. Your task in the game is to bring your new founded virtual club to riches and glory. During your career as manager of a team you’ll have to compete with other players of countries from all all over the world. How the club develops rests in your hands, you will have the power to manage the training, buy and sell players, choose a formation for the matches, invest into the youth and choose when and how the stadium is in need of an overhaul, rebuild or an upgrade in capacity and much more.

The time invested in your club development is up to you. You can either just play a couple of minutes per week if you are fine with some standard settings, or you could spend up to several hours each day on optimizing every little detail, or on the lookout for the last cheap transfer. Invest your time whenever you have it, it doesn’t need to be an disatvantage to take a vacation for example.

Gameplay

League
Every league consists of 10 teams. The red line indicates, that teams below it are in danger of being relegated and the teams above the green line are eligible for promotion at the end of the season. In the league layers 1-6 the 2 best teams of each league will participate in a playoff with their neighbooring league to get promoted to the next league. I the lower league layers 7-20 the 3 best teams of a given league get promoted without playing a playoff. The teams below the red line will be relegated to a lower league after the season concludes. In league layer 1-6, relegation hits 4 teams and 3 teams in league layer 7-20.

Players
Before we go into detail about the information on other clubs, we should first start working with our own “Squad”. First, have a look at your players, who will hopefully bring success to your club. You can see your current squad with 19 players sorted by position. Every player has different skill values and abilities. We will first concentrate on the base value “Strength”, which gives you a rough estimate of the players abilities and quality.

Sponsors
Your players, stadium and staff have to be funded, and need to be paid every week. To avoid getting in debt, you should check your income sources regularly. A major income source are sponsors, which give you money every week as a base payment and additionally for winning a league match.

Training
Training has a big influence on the long- term-development of your players and your team. Therefore, you should put some thought in your training settings. You can choose which abilities of your players you want to train, and also with how much intensity, by clicking on the boxes next to each ability. Training more than you can regenerate will wear your players out and increase the risk of injuries. Furthermore players will not perform at their full potential when not fresh. Besides the “player training” there is “crew training”, which will influence the team itself. Click on the tab that says “crew training” to change the settings.

Formation
Generally, you are able to define an individual formation and tactic for any given match, or just fall back on your standard setup, which is automatically chosen any time you do not set up an individual formation. That’s why it is useful to at least save a standard formation, so that you always field a feasible setup, even if you forget to save an individual one for the next game. We will now go through the steps of setting up an individual formation for the upcoming game, as well as saving it as the standard formation.

Stadium
Apart from your sponsors, the ticket sales at home matches is another important income. Depending on the stadium type, the “Comfort” of the stadium, the “Condition” of the stadium and the charged “Ticket prices” many or few visitors come to your matches. To improve your income, you have to keep your stadium in good condition, raise comfort or build additional seats to accomodate for the needs of your fans.

Transfer market
Step by step you’ve now established a solid foundation – but sooner or later you will decide to add to your strength by aquiring new players. Since your squad maximum is 25 players and you start with 19 players, you still have some room to add to your team via the transfer market. The players you’ll find on the transfer market all belonged to another club until they were sold. Since there are always tens of thousands of players on the market, you need to be very specific for a successful search (narrow down on country, position, strength).

Fixtures
Now Let’s get to the most exciting part of the topics, the “Fixtures”. Depending on at which time of the season you are joining the game the season will either already have been running for some time or will be just about to start. If the season has already been running for some time, then you are taking over a club on its current position in the league. Depending on how well the team has been performing before you took over, you will be at either a good or a bad position in your league. Either way you have to first master the basic tasks and your first season should be used to prepare you for a grand long-term success and not to be focusing too much on instant success.
