Port Galaxy, which is fully funded, is an upcoming MMO game based on a virtual space port. The space port called “Port Galaxy” is located in the Milky Way Galaxy.  “People” from all over the galaxy arrive at the space port everyday, meet new friends, trade with merchants, and have fun experiences! The space port also has infinite living quarters, using space-age technology!  With so many possibilities, Port Galaxy can not simply be viewed as a Virtual World- it is a Virtual Galaxy!

Port Galaxy is built with Flash, and like any Flash game, it is browser-based and operates at 40fps. Animations and videos that run below 30 fps often flicker and have poor quality.

The game client is set to be 1024×768, so unless you are using a small monitor, your resolution should be set to something higher than this. During our research, we found that over 80% of people have a resolution higher than this, some had the exact 1024×768 resolution, and only a few had lower. If you do have a small monitor, you will still be able to play the game although we have not added scrolling support for smaller monitors yet.

Now, onto ping & lag issues. If you are trying to run Port Galaxy on a netbook or poor laptop, you will most likely have some lag issues in parts of the game. However, if you have any type of a decent graphics processor, then I am sure this will not be an issue. Your ping is dependent on your location in relation to the server. This happens to currently be located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. We will not be displaying ping or logging ping, as we highly doubt there will be any issues with this. Port Galaxy is not an extensive game, such as World of Warcraft or other major titles available for purchase. Although it does feature higher detail graphics than most games in this category, I see no reason why basic computers with a normal high-speed connection could not manage this game. Port Galaxy will have some animations, videos (movement outside windows or lights), or animations on monitors displayed in rooms.

We are calling Port Galaxy an MMOG (Massive Multi-player Online Game) as to not classify it under a specific branch. It will be more then an MMOCC, but at the same time it will be very different from an MMORPG (Role Playing Game). It is a virtual world, or in this case, a virtual galaxy. Similar games under this category can include YoVille, BittyBay, and Habbo Hotel. Those games have similar basic features of Port Galaxy, however we strive to be something more, something unique.

Currently, the planned features are to have a basic chat community as you would see in an MMOCC, with a special events system where users take place in limited-time events (campaigns). They are also hoping to add mini-games and have users compete for high scores to earn prizes. Users will have the opportunity to collect virtual furniture, clothes, and rooms which they can decorate. Many features have been planned for Port Galaxy, and many more could be added. One day you may be able to do a quest, or level up in some manner, the possibilities are truly endless.

Port Galaxy is NOT a game that will be downloaded, and never will be. There are several reasons for this. The most important is security issues. Games that are downloaded can be exploited with different software, and it would be a lot easier for users to find ways to hack or commit fraud. These types of games can be decompiled and people can steal the source files from Port Galaxy, and create their own, illegal, unregistered version of it. So, to prevent fraudulent attempts, we will refrain from making this an option.

This page will be seeing renovations in the future.
