Heroes : Book of the Dead is a browser based massive multiplayer online strategy game. The game only requires a common modern browser to start playing. The game compounds both elements from strategy games and role-playing games, with unique hero system, array system and varies of quests for players to explore in a mysterious and fascinating myth world. In current version there are two races for player to choose from.
*** NORDIC ***
Brave and valiant, adore to Odin, the Chief Deity.
The wicked climate made the race to be honest and fortitude, however some of them damaged their reputation with terrible behavior, such as the Vikings, who lived in a bloody life on the sea. When these savage and ignorant pirates broke through in to Alexandra and go upstream the Nile river, they reached the city of Cairo. They invaded the village of Giza, plundered Book of the Dead and the Golden Mask from Amon Temple. Since then, angry Egyptians impute all the Nordic, and started war by summoning undead. Many innocent Nordic civilians were killed. By the leadship of Sigurd, Nordic people start to defend themselves from waves of skeletons and mummies.
Features: Tough units with high physical attack power and defend. Good at direct damage skills and party buffs.
Divine Units: Valkyrie, Fenrir and Nidhogg.
*** EGYPTIAN ***
Laborious and devout, extremely adore to Amonra, the God of Solar.
Amonra used two pieces of nail to create a dimension of nihility, and imprisoned all Undead inside. The unlock spell was written on a piece of beast bone. People recorded the spell in Book of the Dead, and these nails patterned as the eyes on a golden mask, for civilians to worship with. After Viking took these two relics, the Undead returned and made critical damages to the Egyptians. Teremunhtp, the arch-flamen, prayed for power from Isis, and finally took control of these raging undead. He united them as an army to re-capture their lost relics, and willing to make the ignorant thieves who profane the gods pay for what they’ve done.
Features: Units weaker in strength, but cheap cost for training. Good in casting negative effects to enemy.
Divine Units：Anubis, Sekhmet and Horus.
Heroes is a browser based online strategy game. Based on myths from different regions, the story contains content from Book of the Dead (Egypt), Nibelungenlied (Nordic), Theogony (Greek), Veda (Hindu) and many epic literatures. In the game, players will be able to build cities with different architectures, and summon gods that are well known by the world, tries to conquer the world and build their own legend.
Heroes contains most of the classic features as a strategy game, and combined with features from role-playing games such as character development, equipment and quest system. It’s fulfilled with cultures and experience. Desolated and wild land of Nordic, endless desert of Egypt, and the magnificent grand Greek are well emerged into the world of fantasy. Players will develop and enjoy the difference and unique features of each race.
There are two races in the current version, Nordic and Egyptian. These two races are designed to oppose each other.
NORDIC EGYPTIAN
Skill System
There are four attributes that are corresponding to the 4 masteries in the skill tree. Some skills affects city development, increase unit’s power, while others enable new abilities for units, or skills that can be casted during a battle.
Skills are volcano, rock, forest and river, tally to Strength, Intelligence, Constitution and Dexterity. Skills require a certain attribute reaches a level for train. Volcano is for offensive skills, not only passive benefit for units, but also offensive magic for direct damage to enemy. Rock is for defensive skills, increases unit’s toughness. Forest is for logistics, such as accelerate transport speed, building speed and resource production. River is for magic, increase your unit in magic resist ability and some special magic. Most of these skills bring passive benefit, and some of them for players to select before marching.
Array System
Units have to be marched in an array to attack or defend. There are 13 positions in each array, and according to the type of array, they gives different bonus to the units with in. There are two types of arrays in the game now, which are the array of Shield (defensive) and Sword (Offensive).
Quest System
The quest system is commonly used in role-playing games, but players will also find it here in Heroes. There are many quests awaiting players to complete, and earn the reward that includes resources, units and other items.
More than just attacking and looting, there are more types of quests including quiz games, collecting items or race games. They can increase playability of the game.
Alliance Buff
When players join alliance, they will receive a passive benefit condition from alliance. To enable or disable alliance buff, is controlled by authorized alliance members. Enabling a buff will keep consuming resource deposit of the alliance, until it’s disabled or the resources are used up. Higher BUFF levels require alliance facility reaches certain levels.
Embed & Slot
In Heroes, gears can be enchanted by embedding gems. In order to embed a gem, the gear must contain gem slots. Make a new slot for gears can be done in blacksmith with a risk of failure. It damages the durability of the gear if fails.
Gems can be refined to upgrade. Some gems with same type can be refined to a higher grade. Once the gem is embedded on gears, it couldn’t be refined. Embedded gem can be removed by certain items from item shop.
Colored slots are the slots that already exist, and gray slots are un-used. Clicking on the gray slot and use certain item to make a new slot in blacksmith.
Equipment
There are 14 slots for players to equip their gears. These gears give bonuses to player’s attributes, skill levels and many other effects. Besides, there are many gears can be equipped as sets, and giving even more bonus to the players.
Each equipment has a certain maximum durability, and will be damaged during battles. When the damage drops to 0, the item will be lost. Of course, players can fix their gears in the blacksmith to keep them sharp, but not without a cost. Equipments can also be enchanted by embedding gems.
BackGround Story
Viking pirates from Nordic pretended as trader fleet and sneaked into Egyptian city of Giza. By hiding in shade of night, they invaded the village, broke into Temple of Sun and took away Book of the Dead along with the Golden Mask. By losing the relics, undead of Egypt has been released from their imprisonment and returned to the land, ruined the cities into chaos. Teremunhtp, the arch-flamen, prayed to Isis for keep these undead in control. Isis is losing her power rapidly and unable to last for long period, so Egyptian royalty decided to march these undead as an army forth to Nordic world, wishing to re-capture their relics before Isis drained up her power.
Viking’s misdeed had bring suffering of life to Nordic. Many innocent Nordic civilians were killed even before they know the reason. A great hero named Sigurd had mustered a troop against the invasion of the undead, which was called the Asgurd Alliance. Both races suffered greatly during the war, and finally they decided to negotiate. However, an unexpected accident occurred, Sigurd was killed. The war raised to a higher level, and shall go on for a long time.
Starting The Game
When player enter the game for first time, an in-game pop-up window will appear for interface and function guide. When player entered certain page, such as shop or garrison, the guide shall give more instructions of GUI commands and how to operate.
Player can move cursor around to view information of city’s constructions and give direct order to upgrade the building. Bottom of the page shows player’s avator and gold. Click on name bring player to status page. If the city built an Altar, then player can train for skills or attributes here. Also player can equip gears in character page.
To develop the city, click CONSTRUCT button and build mines. Mine produces resource for city’s need and recruit units, gather resources is slow at the beginning. A better way to develop your city quick is to complete DEVELOPMENT quests.
Click on the QUEST icon, at left-bottom of the screen. And start with DEVELOPMENT
DEVELOPMENT quests are more than plentiful awards, also gives player a proper develop to city and instructions what the city’s need. Some quests linked to story line of the race. We suggested new player to this game, to complete these quests as much as possible. And after player gathered enough power, player may choose for higher challenge in RANDOM and DAILY quests.
Click on the QUEST icon, at left-bottom of the screen. And start with DEVELOPMENT
DEVELOPMENT quests have many sorts. Such as building, advance skills, recruit units and trade. Trade will take place in your development, trade out your un-used recourses and exchange with resources player need should be very useful method to gain resources for city. On the top of the screen MARKETPLACE tab to enter trade screen. Also blacksmith for repair and insert gems, and item shop with advantage pay items can be found here.
The world of Heroes is fulfilled with warfare and conflict. Player can choose either to find some friends to form an Alliance or conqueror others with their own power. Warfare is the most important part of the game. Players will need military units for attack others or defend city. When player’s certain buildings reaches a level may able to recruit unit by click the RECRUIT icon. Player can view unit’s status, skills and introduction here. Resources are served for warfare, recruit as much as possible to provide wastage and enemy’s plunder from your city.
Before give order to strike a city or an outpost, we suggest you scout the city first. Know yourself and your enemy. Each race has its own scouting units. Player can click the spot on world map or inputs coordinates and select operation type to Scouting. Shortly, the detail shall sent by mail. A reminder, that all battle report will send to mailbox as well. Read the battle detail may provide experience in array setting and skill.
