Track King is a browser-based management game, with all the adrenaline and excitement of horse racing. The game is simple enough to learn, but with such depth and strategic gameplay that the experienced player won’t get bored quickly! There’s no need to know anything about real-life horse racing to succeed, but enough realism for anyone who has spent time around horses to feel right at home. Ultimately, Track King is a game of strategy and planning.
With over 100 tracks across the world, playing host to more than 800 races every day, Track King is a large and vibrant place. Players will manage their stable, contesting in weekly League races against opponents in their racing class. Twice weekly, Stakes races are held at most tracks around the world, giving players an opportunity to send their horses to compete against wider competition for money and bragging-rights. And then, on weekends, Cup racing at larger Regional tracks around the world, where Prestige, large purses, and shiny trophies are up for grabs! You can even create your own race events and invite your friends. The choice is yours – whether to compete the League for local glory, or shoot for the big-time with Cups and Stakes!
Away from the track, there’s plenty to do in order to fine-tune your stable and improve your horses. Breed horses or scout for a yearling, hire and fire contract jockeys in an effort to find the perfect combination, manage the trainers and vets in your stable to be sure they are giving the desired attention to your horses, and build specialist facilities to get that little extra edge. Design your own silks for your jockeys to wear in races. Scour the Auctions looking for horses to buy from other players – or looking for stud rights from that perfect stallion. Manage your stables’ finances and assets, and even pay yourself a wage which can be used to bet on races around the world!
There’s a mini-game called “The Arcade Mile” where players can test their arcade skills and try to get a high-score, ‘Instant Challenge Races’ that can be organised and run on demand against other players, custom-built Forums and an in-game Mail system to bring together the community. The developers of the game keep a high profile, and love nothing more than to keep players guessing about strategies and relationships between stats in the game.
Track King is a game that can be played in 5-minutes each week or two….but once you’re hooked, we’re sure you’ll be visiting the site several times a week to check in on your virtual steeds.
Racing
Races are run using a detailed simulator, which factors in the body stats and condition of the horses, their experience, the track conditions and weather, the race distance, and the jockey’s style – amongst other things! In the race, jockeys use their own Artificial Intelligence to make their decisions on the best action to take – with each jockey having a unique personality type and “brain”. In fact, players even have the ability to mould the “brain” of their apprentice jockeys to try and create a jockey that is perfect for the style of racing they want from their horses. You can be certain that no race is random – and that no two races will be exactly the same.
Watch the races live in your browser using the Race Vision tool, or analyse the performance of any horses on the Race Analysis Tool (RAT), which shows various data from the race in graph form, to try and interpret what went wrong – or what went right!
Breeding
Breeding uses a simple-yet realistic version of genetics. Each horse has DNA consisting of 18 known gene-pairs – and some unknown ones! When two horses breed, the mare will be unable to race for several weeks, during which time the foal develops. Players can keep track of the progress of the foal by monitoring an “overall rating” as often as they like. Eventually, the foal is born and will carry DNA created from crossing the DNA/gene-pairs of both parents – think back to your High School biology class!
Anytime players want to test the DNA of their horses – or of any of the horses on Auction for sale or for stud – they can obtain a report for a small fee to their stable. The report is often humorous, with comments from the geneticist and his faithful assistant.
