Avatar 3D Movie and Video Game Releases

For those of you who have been waiting to watch the highly anticipated “Avatar” movie, the wait is almost over. In fact, the James Cameron movie is due to release next week, with a December 16th release date for UK and Europe and December 18th for US.

We may still have a week until the movie release, but we don’t have to wait for the “Avatar: The Game” video game anymore, as it was released on December 1st. And now that the game has been released, the reviews have started coming in.

If you are not really expecting much out of the “Avatar” video game, then you’d be right as according to a game review at 1up.com, the “Avatar” game may be pretty in spots, but the pacing and plot are said to hamper any sense of forward momentum.

We looked at another review from destructoid.com and it looks like they don’t rate it much either. The game’s combat has been described as a total mess and the missions are said to be even worse, with a sloppy multiplayer mode. The score they gave it was 3.0.

On the other hand, latimes.com said that the game not only sounds stunning, but looks stunning as well. And although they say the story campaigns, which each take about 15 hours to complete, are good, it is the multiplayer mode that was the best for them.

If you’ve played the game, feel free to let us know what you think.

Is it just me or did they miss a huge opportunity to make this into one of the best MMORPG computer games ever? Before even having any knowledge of the computer game, I though surely they had rolled this into the marketing package as a whole. Having played EVERQUEST for a few years it made total sense to me to make this into that type of game. Maybe they just didn’t have the time? I would love to hear some other opinions on this.
